Splashlings Medical Center and Wave 2 Blind Bags

[Review Disclaimer] Today we’re opening up the Splashlings Medical Center and Wave 2 Blind Bags. If you’ve not yet heard, Splashlings are a set of collectible toys that my kids (ages 8 and 6) are obsessed with. They are ocean-themed and include over 200 characters to collect and trade. Our favorites are the mermaids and the sparkly treasures.

splashlings wave 2

The Splashlings Medical Center lets your child pretend to be doctor – a like when their mama accidentally drops one of the precious ones. They can measure height and weight, conduct an exam, or even take an x-ray of their characters.

Each set we opened came with blind bags – actually ultra-cool shells – that keep some of the characters a mystery. Part of the fun is opening up the sets and seeing who is hiding inside. According to Arianna, duplicates aren’t a problem – they give kids a trade or let them enjoy as twins. But the best part is when you find characters who are not common (the Splashlings call these rare, ultra-rare color change, and super treasure).

Splashlings Medical Center

Check out our video to see what happened when Arianna opened up the Medical Center, a 6-pack (with two surprises), a 12-pack (with two surprises), and a blind bag star-fish shell.

  • Keep some Splashlings Collector’s Shells on hand for those moments when you catch your kiddo being good.
  • Use ICE COLD water to change the color of your ultra-rare color change Splashlings. This didn’t go so well in our video until we did so!
  • Store your Splashlings in a cool container (Arianna uses a pencil box) so their siblings don’t lose them (Arianna’s tip).

As an 80’s kid, it’s really cool to know my kids are enjoying collectibles brought to them by the same creator that brought Pound Puppies® to my life – Mike Bowling.

Splashlings are available at Walmart, Toys R Us, Justice, and Amazon. MSRP starts at $3.99 for the shells to $19.99 for the larger playsets.

In addition to the complete line of collectibles, fans can collect Upper Deck trading cards and tap into the Splashlings Official Checklist & Collector’s Guide companion app, offering a fun way to keep track of their growing toy and card collections.  The brand will see apparel, bedding and food/beverage products in the coming year. Splashlings assortments are available at Toys “R” Us, Amazon, Justice Stores, and Walmart beginning February 1, 2017.

Toddler Wish-List

Disclaimer: To bring you this Toddler Wish-List, I was provided with products in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Can you believe that tomorrow the twins will be turning 23 months? I’m not alone, right? It is time to be in party planning mode, celebrating the official move into toddlerhood…or the terrible twos…or something like that.

Speaking of party planning, it probably makes sense to start thinking about what to get the girls who “have everything” because of being third in line of spoiled ‘lil Burghers. Fresh and new things are always fun, aren’t they? Thus, I put together a toddler wish-list full of fun items for those hard to buy for ‘lil divas and heroes in your life.

Toddler Wish-list

Toddler Wish-List

Musical Toys. The girls love to sing and dance, so what better than giving them toys to make their own music? This hedgehog accordion is unique and great to pair with these animal egg shakers.

Lovies. I melted when I found this stuffed hedgehog (are you sensing the theme? The girls happen to have an affinity to them – big things come in small packages!). Doesn’t her hair remind you of Ava’s?

A really great blanket is always a win around here, too – and having a backup never hurts, just ask Evan and Ava.

Books. Babies, I mean toddlers, can never tire of books. Little Women is a pretty empowering one for the ‘lil ladies in your life while the ‘lil guys might enjoy The Jungle Book. Isn’t it great that these classics come in toddler friendly board book versions?

Little Women

Bath Toys. Bath time continues to be a struggle for us, so we’re hoping some fun bath toys just might do the trick to get the girls okay with the tub. Toys like Boon Pipes and Gears are a fun way to start getting your ‘lil engineers’ minds moving, too!

Puzzles. While standard puzzles can be fun, I think mix and match toys are also good ways to introduce puzzles and problem solving. Aren’t these Mix and Match Animals cute?

Note: The girls will be getting these items for their birthday – I’ll be sure to share some photos of them as soon as they unwrap the goodies. Let’s not wish the next month away too soon, though!

Bonus for Mom

Now that your babies are toddlers, you’re probably about ready to get rid of the diaper bag. But don’t go there just yet. Consider the Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack, an upgrade to your standard diaper bag. It offers versatile carrying configurations, organizational pockets, and a built-in charging station (doesn’t every mom need that?!). With fun prints, there’s something for every mom.

The Baby Cubby

The items above can all be found at The Baby Cubby, with a website (babycubby.com) and retail store (in Utah). Not only do they carry specially picked and tested toys and clothes for baby, functional baby gear, and products for mom; they provide a community for moms and make us feel special. Our role as parents is important, and they celebrate that. Follow their Cubby Community Blog to see what I mean – including twin tips and How to Dad!

What would you add to this toddler wish-list?

Enter disclaimer text This post, Floofis one such post.

The kids absolutely love their arts and crafts time. When I brought them Floof, there was no doubt in my mind they’d like. I mean, I did (because mess free fun), so why wouldn’t they?

I was wrong. They didn’t like Floof. They loved it and are constantly begging for time to play with it (at the table, of course). Indoor snow that doesn’t melt? Yes. A bucket to put it all away in at the end of play time? Yes. This toy that is lighter than air was a hit in our house for sure.

What is Floof?

From the makers of Sands Alive!, this new compound looks like snow, feels like a marshmallow, molds like clay and can be reused every single day! It’s lighter than air, soft and smooth to the touch, and easily molds into amazing detail. You need to feel it to believe it!

The bucket of Floof is full of fun. Arianna says, “it’s really smooshy and really cool. It’s really fun to use!” From molding into shapes (our set has penguins, but there are other options out there) to just moving it from hand to hand, Floof is a unique toy for kids.

Like the description from Play Visions says, you do have to feel it to believe it. Check out what Evan and Arianna had to say as they played with it for the first time.

Evan advises to be sure that you have dry hands before playing with it – he’s learned the hard way a few times. 😉

Floof is available from Play Visions and at various toy retailers. MSRP is $14.99+ depending on the kit you select. Check out the winter themes and the s’mores theme! The kids are recommending it be on every Santa list in 2016.

World’s Smallest Toys

Enter disclaimer text This post, World’s Smallest Toys, is one such post.

Are you like me and have hands that have to be constantly doing something. This need to always be moving leads to me drumming on my desk with a pen, applying lip gloss, or simply tapping at my phone to keep them occupied.

Recently, I found out about World’s Smallest Toys, a line of novelties that brings some of our favorite childhood toys into tiny sized replicas. Think: Desk perfect! Conversation starter! Stress Relief!

world's smallest toys

Ah. Not going to lie, when I saw these, I claimed them all for my own. The kids haven’t played with them. Part of that is because they’re not all for ages 3+ (several are 8+), but a bigger part is that I do not want to share. I want to play with them all myself.

Okay, so I might have tucked two of them away for stocking stuffers (perfect!), but two will definitely be going with me to my new desk (we’re anxiously counting down the days to our new office dahntahn). Can you guess which?

While you think about it, how about if I give you some of the deets on these adorable working small toys?

The toys I received to review were the Chatter Telephone, Rubik’s Cube, Sock Monkey, and Etch a Sketch. These toys join the rest of World’s Smallest Toys including: Perplexus, Duncan yo-yo, Doodletopand Rock-a-Stack. They range in age recommendations starting at 3+ and are priced from $3.99 to $9.99. You can find out more by checking out Super Impulse online as well as on Twitter and Instagram.

Alright, so did you guess which two I’ve opened? Here they are!

Aren’t they adorable? Tell me – have you ever solved a Rubik’s Cube? It’s so on my 2016 to-do list now, right?

Tell me: What toy would you have kept all to yourself?

Twozies and More

Enter disclaimer text We received the toys in this post and video (including Twozies) for this post.

Last time we went grocery shopping, seven kids accompanied us. The bigs, the twins, and the Twozies that were added to our kids’ collection of blind bag toys. Following Blogger Bash, we got our Box o’ Swag and inside we plenty of surprises for the Bigs, including a 3-pack of Twozies and their pets.

Check out the kids’ video on Twozies, Reactorz, and the pile of Blind Bags they received:

Both Arianna and Evan love the Twozies, carrying them around like small children (which they are) and fully integrating them into imaginative play. You can pick up your own set of Twozies on Amazon, which has many options for surprise bags and play sets.

There’s even a playground Reactorz Ball!

The Reactorz ball has been a hit, too. It lights up (which is super cool for evening play time); however, it’s gotten into the twins’ hands a few times more than I’d like and they’ve pulled at the rubber that holds the light up ball in. Lesson learned for my Bigs who are always pointing out age recommendations on our toy videos, huh?

blind bags

And the blind bags were full of fun toys that the kids have used just like the Twozies. If your kids aren’t into blind bags, here’s your warning – it can and will happen. Promise.

One of our biggest struggles with small toys is getting the kids to leave them at home when we go places (like shopping). Someone is sure to leave something somewhere. For instance, it took the Bigs 30 minutes (not kidding) to find the Twozies for the photo in this post. I get that the toys are little, but how to do kids lose everything? What tips do you have for helping kids keep toys organized and in a safe place?

Thanks to all the Blogger Bash NYC / Sweet Suite Sponsors for our Box o’ Swag! More to come!

Enter disclaimer text Tonight’s post is thanks to MagicMeeMees.

Amidst the rocking boat of Blogger Bash NYC, I found a toy that I knew would soon become a favorite in my house. Just like my four kids, these are adorable ‘lil beings that have their own emotions and wants.

Magic MeeMees

I’m pretty sure that these toys from Future of Play are going to top wish lists this holiday season. While not available until August 1, the ‘lil Burghers (and I, duh!) got a chance to play with these fun characters who will be available in play sets, characters, and blind bags. Each character has a mind of their own. A push on the head brings them to life so they can interact with you, other MagicMeeMees, their play lands, and food.

Check out what Evan and Arianna had to say about them, then come back here for more information.

You can follow MagicMeeMees on their social channels to find out more as they become available at retailers: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram. These toys were a HIT at Blogger Bash’s Sweet Suite and I’m sure they’ll be a hit in your home, too!

Psst! If you don’t want your magicmeemees to be red (angry) all the time, make sure you either buy the matching play set or the foods that go along with their land. There are currently 24 characters and 8 play sets (lands). Also, if you have babies like we do, you can take the arms off and store them somewhere safe so that they can check out these fun characters (with supervision, of course).

You can buy MagicMeeMees on Amazon – click the picture below to get the set we have or click here to get Mellow Manny!

The past few weeks have been filled with Independent Play time in the hours between school and dinner / bed-time. The ‘lil Burghers quickly fell in love with Puppet-on-a-Stick™ Rainbow Prancers, from Educational Insights.

They loved it so much they asked if they could make a video to share with you instead of me writing all the words about this set of puppets. They had a great time with it, don’t you think?

Puppet-on-a-Stick Rainbow Prancers, Set of 3 is available at Educational Insights for $32.99. Recommended for ages 3+.

Toy Safety

I’ve been busy sharing lots of toy reviews with you this holiday season, but how about safety?!?! Edgar Snyder & Associates shared this infographic with me, and I’d love you to take some time and review it.

Typhoon Frenzy™ Roller Coaster Building Set

Disclosure: At no cost to me/in exchange for a blog review, K’NEX sent me the Typhoon Frenzy™ Roller Coaster Building Set through their Toys “R” Us® Mom Blogger Promotion. All opinions are 100% my own.

When my dad was visiting schools for his Master’s Program, we visited Ohio one weekend. During that stay, our car caught fire (will definitely blog this someday) and we had to stay at a friend’s home for longer than expected. Frankly, I was happy because I’d be working on building a roller coaster with a set very much like the new Typhoon Frenzy™ Roller Coaster Building Set from K’NEX.

You see, I don’t love to ride roller coasters at all because I try to stand up. BUT, I do love the physics of a coaster. *math and science nerd* So, this set is kinda sorta right up my alley. Not only does it remind me of a crazy time in my past, but it it super fun to build with the ‘lil ones in your life.

Bring a wave of fun from the ocean to your living room with the new Typhoon Frenzy Roller Coaster Building Set from K’NEX!  Build with over 640 K’NEX parts & pieces including, rods, connectors and track, and add motorized power to send the silver coaster car twisting and turning through over 19 feet of swirling, non-stop action!  Plus, download exclusive instructions to build an incredible second model, the Tsunami Surge™ Coaster!  All K’NEX rods and connectors are made in the USA!

That’s just one way you can set it up. Make sure you have space and energy – the kids will likely have questions on it, but to me, that’s okay.

The Typhoon Frenzy™ Roller Coaster Building Set is recommended for ages 9+. Suggested retail price is $39.99.  Available exclusively at Toys “R” Us.http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=23263786

Super Mario Bros.™ 2 Thwomps™ Building Set

Disclosure: At no cost to me/in exchange for a blog review, K’NEX sent me the Super Mario Bros.™ 2 Thwomps™ Building Set through their Toys “R” Us® Mom Blogger Promotion. All opinions are 100% my own.

Oh boy. My brother was pretty jealous of the last review I put up, and it was a tub of K’NEX. Can’t wait to hear his thoughts on this (and the next) ones!

Today, we’re talking the Super Mario Bros.™ 2 Thwomps™ Building Set. This set made me, a true nerd at heart, squeal. It’s going to definitely make some kid’s holiday, let me tell you. The set is a castle from the beloved Super Mario Bros. series. There are cool action pieces to it that allow Mario (or Luigi) to run and jump (boing, boing!) through the castle.

Source: K’NEX

This set includes Fire Mario™, Silver Luigi™, gold coins, Power Up mushroom, warp pipes, Bone Goomba™, and Thwomps. It’s part of a line of Super Mario Bros. themed K’NEX building sets and can definitely bring your gaming world to life (once you build it, of course).

Who else is excited by this? Did you play Super Mario Bros. as a kid?

For ages 8+.  Suggested retail price is $59.99.  Available exclusively at Toys “R” Us.  http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=21399666
