J’Adore VoxBox

Disclaimer: I am a member of Influenster and they occasionally send me products to test and review. This post contains a review of products I received thanks to this program. All opinions, however, are 100% my own.

In February, Influenster sent a box full of love to my doorstep. Inside were products that made the winter blues go away and prep me for some fun with my guy.

J'adore Vox Box

The beautiful pink box included:

  • Tea from Red Rose – I am not a tea drinker, but this tea was smooth and tasty. My favorite was the Creme Caramel – so smooth and sweet.
  • Men’s Spray lotion from Vaseline – Greg (obviously) got to test this one out. When I attacked him with it the first time, yup, he said it felt almost watered down on his dry skin, drying quickly. (This is because it is “Non Greasy” by formula.) It smelled guy-ish (“really good”, Greg said) and was a pretty cool treat for him. He advises it’s easy to spray too much or miss your mark – hold it close to your skin!
  • Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes – Since BlogHer, I haven’t been able to apply false lashes. This makes me sad – I need to learn. The pack I was sent has been sitting on my beauty box since I got it. I’ve tried a few times to do it, but eventually give up. If anyone is willing to come teach me, let me know. These lashes are GORGEOUS and would look so soft, natural, and feathery on my eyes.
  • BOOTS Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask – This is part of my weekend routine, now. Greg even gave it a try. We caution that it comes out of the bottle quickly (and when it hits your counter looks like spilled nail polish, I’d know), but it also dries quickly on your face. It works amazing, leaving skin soft.
  • Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray from John Freida – Other than the fact that my hair has been frizzy thanks to the cold, this spray made my hair super straight and it lasted. It’s a solid addition in my beauty bag.
  • HERSHEY KISSES Milk Chocolate Family Bag – This wasn’t a family bag, thanks to Evan. He got a hold of the bowl of chocolate I left on the counter and it was ON. If you don’t have a choco-holic three-year-old, there are plenty of KISSES in this bag to spread #LoveAndKisses. Trust Evan on this one.

This was a fun box for February. Thanks, Influenster, for helping me keep up with the latest and greatest!

imPRESS Revolution Broadway Nails

I was sent some hot pink imPress Revolution Broadway Nails from Influenster and asked to test and review them. This post is about my experience and the feedback I’ve received so far. All opinions are mine (or my friends’).

Last night, I took about 10 minutes and applied (hands down) the best at home nail application ever. There were no chemicals, there was no glue. Just me, 24 nails to choose from,  and my time.

When I opened the bottle (yes, they come in a cute bottle), I was a bit relieved that I put this post off for a week. My initial plan was to apply last Monday for Memorial Day, but we were doing yard work and I forgot. You see, these are literally false nails, and I thought they were a press-on paint and wouldn’t give me length. Oops.

I had to find which nails fit my nails, this was the hardest part. They are not labeled or ordered in any way (as they sit in the bottle), so I struggled here a bit. But, it only took about 5 minutes to pick them out, wipe my nails with the cleansing wipe (enclosed), and get started.

If you go out to http://impressmanicure.com/, you can access a YouTube video on how to apply imPRESS Revolution Broadway Nails.  Perhaps I should have done this–I wasn’t convinced I was doing the right thing when applying based on the bottle directions, but I figured it out. You simply line up your nails, peel a ‘lil bit off the back, and press. Thumbnails last, and you’ll be fine.

imPRESS Revolution Broadway Nails

After applying, I recalled seeing tweets from others in the Influenster program suggesting you use a ‘lil bit of super glue or file your nail a bit to give it traction before applying. I did not follow those tips and opted to go with the nails as they were meant to be applied. Honestly, I showered just after and was a bit afraid. Glad to report, they’ve stood up to almost 24 hours and are supposed to last 7 days. ::fingers crossed::

While I don’t agree with the marketing that they “look salon perfect” or “rival the best gel polish”, I do like them. The length is just right for me, and I frankly heart the hot pink. (There are 36 patterns and colors to choose from.)

Opinions gathered today? Arianna and Evan love the hot pink. Greg is indifferent, he’s never really big on me having my nails done, but he doesn’t mind them. Typing hasn’t been impossible, and they don’t feel tight. I served about 150 people lunch today at a work cookout and I got 3 compliments on them (people thought they were “real”, but nope…also, 5 people commented on my forearm tattoo, so there’s that). They stood up to the day…although I did take the spares in case any popped off. Usually with fake nails (non acrylic or gel), this happens. Not yet!

Verdict? A great option to have a nice mani without the salon and pricing (under $10). I won’t wear if we are doing yard work, scared I would pop one off.

If you’re interested in imPRESS Revolution Broadway Nails, know they do come with my recommendation to try. Also–you can get a $1 coupon on their site (current as of 6/3) or follow them on Twitter (@bwaynails) or Like on Facebook to get deals.

Ivory 2-in-1 Hair and Body Wash: Got A Dirty Girl Clean

The post below includes a review of Ivory 2-in-1 Hair and Body Wash. I was provided a free sample through my involvement over on Influenster, but all opinions within are 100% my own.

Remember when I ran Mud on the Mountain? That was a super dirty day. You know that hotels don’t normally have great soap (and if so, it’s in an all too small bar). This dirty girl was prepared. My bottle of Ivory 2-in-1 Hair and Body Wash was in my overnight bag and ready to go.

While I can’t say I love the smell (I tested out the  “Refreshing” scent, in blue above), I did like what it did for my body. My skin, covered in dried on mud coated with snow and mud puddle, came out clean, fresh, and soft after my shower. The product is branded to use for your hair and body, but I have to report that I didn’t love what it did for my hair. This probably would also be a good time to say I can never get away with just shampoo because it dries my fine hair out. That’s probably why I still felt the need to condition after (but not do another round of shampoo).

So, does it save room in my shower? Sure, if it eliminates the body wash and shampoo bottles. Does it deliver clean? Absolutely. Does it smell amazing? Not as much as I’d like. For these things, I’d rank Ivory 2-in-1 Hair and Body Wash a “B” on an old-school grading scale.

And a bonus? The space we’d save would eliminate this from happening (check out the Ivory® digital short on the Influenster Ivory® Video Page). ::wink::

Here’s the bottle in our shower…wow do I need to clean it up!

Beauty Blogger VoxBox: #IndividualEyes

This post is the final installation in my reviews of the Influenster’s Beauty Blogger VoxBox. The product was probably one that is most familiar to me, because although my makeup style is very basic (read, busy mom), it still exists. And these colors worked with my palette, my wardrobe, and my likes in eye shadow.

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact (find them on Facebook and Twitter @nycnewyorkcolor)

My eyeshadow set was shades of silver, grey, and black, the perfect fit for me. I like that the back of the package showed me exactly where to apply each color for the perfect look. There’s also a highlighter and base (primer) that make this shadow really stick to the eyes all day and keep popping.

The only thing I didn’t like was for a normal day, the crease black was a bit too dark. I’d save it more for a night out or as my zombie makeup (which I did, and it worked quite well).

Beauty Blogger VoxBox: #HairMoves

As part of my Beauty Blogger VoxBox, I got one of my new stranded island must have items.

Not Your Mother’s Hair Cream (find them on Facebook and Twitter @nymbrands)
Ok, usually I HATE any hair products because I have fine hair, but Not Your Mother’s Hair Cream is like a lifesaver for my crazy tresses. Normally, I am running out the door with towel dried hair, so by the time I get to work, it looks like a frizzy, limp pile of nasty on my head.
When I used Not Your Mother’s, everything changed. The first time I tried it, I decided to go “all out” and test it on towel dried hair. Through 8 hours of work on a hot fall day, my hair lasted, no straightener needed! I had to keep looking in the mirror to believe what I saw. Plus, my hair lightly smelled like coconut all day AND was shiny and healthy looking, no other products needed.
Downer? When I was peeling off the safety seal, I wasted probably half a “dose” worth, and I hate wasting things. I’ll just be careful when I pick up my next round!
Here’s the living proof that my hair loves Not Your Mother’s Hair Cream:
See how straight it is? No flyaways, and this was at the end of a rainy day. I love it so much, there might never be words.

Beauty Blogger VoxBox: #BBWFallCandles

As you know, I received a Beauty Blogger VoxBox and was asked to review some products. This one is definitely another favorite, the Bath & Body Works Mini Candle (find them on Facebook and Twitter @LUVBBW).
My mini candle was “Cider Lane”, a perfect blend of fall scents (love this time of year!) like cinnamon, pumpkin, leaves…it really combined it all. This mini candle was just a teaser of what you can get at the store, and I’ll be sure to pick up a nice 3-wick candle to remind me of the fall scents as colder weather is sure to set in before Thanksgiving.
The only thing I didn’t like about the candle was that it wasn’t easy for me to use it around the kids (but that’s any candle in this house). I like to burn them after the kids have gone to bed, so that doesn’t leave me much time to enjoy. Also, the minis are slightly wider (and taller) than a tealight, so that’s a good thing when it comes to lasting scent; however, I couldn’t slip it into one of the holders I have that I can keep safely out of reach of my ‘lil ones. Minor things, right?!?!

(PS, if you go over to Bath and Body Works right now, the large 3-wick candles are 2 for $20!)

Beauty Blogger VoxBox: #KissLashes

As part of my Beauty Blogger VoxBox, I was asked to test out Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit.

Before the kit, I had tested out false lashes twice before. Once for a cousin’s bachelorette party (they lasted about 20 minutes) and another time for Pride (I don’t even know if I wore them to the parade as they involved feathers!).

It should be no surprise that I was completely numb as to what to do with the lashes. Kiss gives great instructions on what to do, but I have a feeling I am just not made to wear false lashes.

As far as lashes go, these are definitely “PRO” quality. They are 100% human hair and extremely soft. If you were good at putting them on, you’d have no idea these were falsies. *Ahem*.

Are my eyes too wide for lashes?!?!

If you are into lashes, these are a great kit to pick up. There is a tool to help you put them on. They peel nicely from the packaging. The glue dries perfectly. I simply do not know what I am doing.

So, if you know what you’re doing and would like to show me how to apply these, please do! Or, go pick up your own set and nana nana boo boo in my face, k?

You can find Kiss PRO Lashes on Facebook and Twitter @KissProducts.

Influenster Has Relaunched!

Recently, I joined Influenster, a site that helps you “turn your social influence into rewards”. Right around the time I joined, they relaunched the website and are celebrating it.

You go on the site, review products, and get fun badges.

What I like most: I like earning badges and sharing things with all of my social networks. Soon I’ll be reviewing a beauty box…trying out new things is right up my alley! I also like that I can review products I have already tried out…each review I do is one more “point” toward my ability to review bigger and better things. Gamification at it’s best!

What I am getting used to: Logging into yet another social media site and remembering to see what’s out there for me to do. Sometimes I get carried away with blogging or Facebooking and I forget that there are other sites to check out. Life happens. Other than that, I haven’t really found anything I don’t like about Influenster. Also, you have to “earn” your way to reviews (which I LOVE because I don’t mind doing tasks to make reviews fair, but again, I need to remember to get in and DO the tasks!). You have to read carefully, too!

Keep watching this here ‘lil blog for reviews brought to you from Influenster, or request an invite for more fun!
