Mom Stuff: Busy Beauty Showerless Shave Gel

Enter disclaimer text Are you so busy being a fabulous mom or wife that you simply don’t have the time to add shaving to your routine? I know it sounds super “gross”, but I sure don’t. And the thing is, I am not alone. I want my shower time to be fast, and that’s why I’m over the moon excited to tell you all about my latest secret: Busy Beauty Showerless Shave Gel.

showerless shave gel

Busy Beauty Showerless Shave Gel

This product has revolutionized how I get ready in the morning. If I feel the need to shave (which is frankly all too often in the summer), I don’t have to worry about handling it in the shower any more. With no need to lather, rinse, repeat…I can now shave on the go, in a tiny hotel shower, or even on my bed!

Busy Beauty Showerless Shave Gel is a 3-in-1 pre-shave, shave, and post-shave product. It goes on without “suds” or foam but moisturizes the skin just right for a perfect, close shave. Even my sensitive skin (that itches like mad every time I shave) felt amazing after it. (I thank the fact that it is made with essential oils and is alcohol free!) Even days after, I still felt silky smooth.

Check out my very first experience with this shaving product…

Get your Busy Beauty on!

Super easy, right? I’m sure you can see why I am so excited and you’re probably wondering how you can get your hands on this and start shaving the best way right away, right? Drop everything and head over here (Amazon) and buy yourself a bottle or two.

Once you get your bottle(s), all you need to do is smooth on the gel and shave with your favorite razor (though I recommend one without built in moisturizer/soap). If you follow up this quick routine with a little bit extra rubbed in, you’ve taken care of your post-shave moisturizer, too. So easy. (If you’re still reading, WHY haven’t you headed over to get a bottle?!?!)

Traveling? No worries – at 3.4 fluid ounces, these bottles are TSA approved for flying! I took mine to NYC this past week, but still felt great after my Saturday shave from last week…it was that refreshing.

Busy Beauty Showerless Shave Gel is available on Amazon for about $9 per bottle. It’s been called “the dry shampoo of shaving gels” and for good reason – it makes the shower routine so much faster…something all of us busy women need! Find out more at

Dry Shampoo

Enter disclaimer text This post, Dry Shampoo, is one such post and is brought to you by Monat.

Today, I am thankful for dry shampoo. I know that sounds so greedy first-world, but it’s admittedly true. The past few days have been a whirlwind where every second counted and that meant some of my hygiene processes had to be tossed to the side or changed up. (Eww, I sound so gross, but I promise you’ll understand.)

dry shampoo

The holiday weekend started with me working one of my side jobs until late in the evening. I had just settled into a good sleep when Arianna came to our room.

Daddy? I barfed.

Ugh. It had to happen then, on a holiday, right? We tag-teamed the cleanup efforts (which took nearly an hour before the three of us had all been showered and put back in clean pjs (but I didn’t wash my hair because it was pulled back before stepping in to clean).

Thankfully, the big girl woke up just fine and ready to eat on Thanksgiving. I, however, was not ready to get out of bed. Between needing a workout and to get all the side dishes moving, I simply didn’t have time to wash my hair before my brother and parents arrived for lunch. I was able to sneak upstairs and use my Monat dry shampoo (which is appropriately named, THE CHAMP) to get my hair looking fresh and clean. Phew.

After stuffing ourselves, we headed out to do some shopping then I showered before bed. When I woke up on Friday, my hair needed some help to look fresh, so I used THE CHAMP Conditioning Dry Shampoo again before heading back to the stores and to see a movie. Again, I was saved.

Saturday was a blah day for me – I felt a cold coming on and was just not in a great mood. That meant waking up on Sunday for church was a little tougher than most days. Top it off, we had a little scare with Miss Ava that put me in a hyper-helicopter mom mode. To say I’ll probably be needing help from my dry shampoo again tomorrow is probably truth.

I know it seems odd to be thankful for something so simple, but in this busy holiday season, any extra seconds I get with my kids and husband are going to be taken. If that means I get to use my resources like Monat’s Dry Shampoo to do so, so be it!

THE CHAMP dry shampoo retails for $34. At Monat, “Our mission is to help people everywhere enjoy beautiful, healthy, fulfilling lives through our exceptional, naturally based products, a fun and rewarding business opportunity, and a culture of family, service, and gratitude.” You can learn more about this and their other products at monatglobal.comI am a Market Partner with Monat and would love to help you change your hair destiny! Valentia Skin Care

Disclaimer: I received products from Valentia Skin Care in exchange for this post with my honest opinions. All opinions are 100% my own.

It’s been a week of rejuvenation for this mama. I relaxed. I ate foods that I won’t again for months. I slept in. And I tool extra care of my skin.

The timing to try out the Valentia Skin Care line was just perfect. The jars were small enough to tuck in my cosmetic bag and exactly what I needed to come along with me on my girls’ trip.

First, I took some time to refresh my face with the Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub.

This natural facial scrub works well for all skin types and gently exfoliates. When I opened it up, I could smell the teas (and it took my mind off the jiggly look of the scrub). I quickly got past the texture when I could feel the difference it was making on my skin as I scrubbed the cold weather away.

I followed up my routine with the Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask which… It smells amazing, like a light fruit. But then when you put it on, it tingles. Just trust it. I did. That’s the detoxifying working!

Again, suitable for all skin types, I recommend this detoxifying mask for fighting winter dryness (though I am really looking forward to the help with keeping sweaty skin issues at bay in the summer).

I’m sure you are wondering where you can get this combo, and the answer is (surprise!) Amazon. The Valentia Skin Care line is natural, simple, and leaves you feeling amazingly refreshed.

What have you done for your skin lately? Treat yourself!

Amazingly Beautiful

Enter disclaimer text

’tis the week before Christmas and all through the house, not a husband is shopping because mom’s got it all wrapped and ready to go. Heh. Or so he thinks. What he doesn’t realize is that he left out the lady in his life and that his wife is struggling to come up with ideas for his mom and sisters. canigetanamen? Right?

Since I know it’s not just me who has a husband who isn’t ready for Christmas morning, I wanted to share an “Amazingly Beautiful” option for you to pass along to the man in your life when you slip him your wish list.

Amazingly Beautiful

It’s winter, which means mom’s skin is begging for moisture. May I introduce Trusted Health Products “Amazingly Beautiful” system. I got to try out the body moisturizer & revitalizer, which revives skin and does so much more. At first, my skin soaked in the serum and wanted more – according to Trusted Health Products, this is normal (and eventually you’ll not need to use as much). Paired with the day and evening face oil serums, this is a great way to moisturize deep down and all over your body.

This holiday season, every bottle is of Amazingly Beautiful Facial A.M. and P.M. is personalized with the user’s name and makes a unique gift for Christmas, too!

A little bit more about the Amazingly Beautiful (from Trusted Health Products):

  • Amazingly Beautiful Body Moisturizer and Revitalizer moisturizes deep down so you can say goodbye to dry skin. It firms and tones skin’s appearance and skin feels clean, conditioned and smooth like silk.

  • It is 100% pure and natural, live cold pressed botanical oils of almond, orange, lime, lemon, olive and avocado and contains no preservatives, parabens, petroleum-based oils, GMOs, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, colorings or additives of any kind.

  • It smoothes the appearance of rough and scaly areas, reduces the appearance of age spots, discoloration and sun spots, and decreases the appearance of blemishes and spider veins. It can also be used as an underarm deodorant.

And while he’s off shopping for you at, he just  might want to check out The Man collection (which will give him the same amazing benefits that you are getting!).

What’s on your wish list this holiday? I’ll be pairing this serum as a follow-up to a nice, long bath this weekend. Amen.

Holiday Curls with Kiss InstaWave

Enter disclaimer text

I’ve been meaning to share a new product with you, and after checking out my limp, lifeless hair in a photo from last night’s holiday party, I have to get this post out ASAP. No, I didn’t use the KISS InstaWave to do my hair, but I should have at least given it a shot. The reason I’ve been holding off on the review is that my hair just doesn’t like to cooperate, but it’s time to show you what I learned.

KISS is a beauty product company that makes it easy for busy folks like me to amp up their natural beauty. The InstaWave is an automatic curling iron that frees up one hand for you multi-taskers. Watch this video to see what I mean:

It looks easy, right? Well, I’ve got to be honest. It wasn’t really easy for me. At first, I was super worried that I would twist my hair up and be left with short hair (reminiscent of my pregnancy with Evan, eek). But it doesn’t get tight to the point it pulls. I am sure that this is a product that actually does what it is intended to do, but my hair just simply hates to cooperate. I had it on as hot as it would go (which was safe enough to use on Arianna and even Evan who helped me out with photos), but my hair just doesn’t like to wave. Boo!

Arianna wasn’t scared, and her hair is similar to mine, fine but some natural waves. I think it gave her a cute “boost”, but this isn’t something we’ll be using all the time on her young hair.

The process…and then the result:

Just because our hair wasn’t the right fit for this curling iron, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I’ve NEVER been successful with curls, but always want to try. Both Arianna and Evan had gorgeous curls (Ev still has his) and I am super jealous. But I am sure that if the curls stick around, he’d be wishing he got my genes instead and shave it all off like his Daddy does. (Hopefully there’s a girl in my belly that will love the Willis curls!) If you’d like to give the KISS InstaWave a try, you can grab it over on or at Target (MSRP is $59.99). Find out more about KISS and their products by visiting them at

Hot Designs Nail Art Pens

Enter disclaimer text

In June, Arianna joined me for a girls’ day out which included pedicures. The girl is obsessed, but our piggy bank simply cannot support the obsession. When I found out about Get Hot Looks’ Hot Designs Nail Art Pens, I was certain this was going to cure the issue…and (hallelujah), I was right.

Hot Designs Nail Art Pens

The kit we received had 3 pens, each with 2 colors, a design tip, and a paint brush (for full color application). The colors were basic – black, white, blue, red, green, and pink – however, the possibilities were endless when it came to what we could do with them. Because I am a visual artist, I followed the picture instructions that came with the pens and gave myself two designs. I worked quickly because Arianna was about to wake up and I knew I’d be discovered and her demand a design herself. Practice (and patience) with these pens makes perfect.

My first two are not something to hang in a museum (or to enter in the Got Hot Looks’ Summer Giveaway contest to win a $250 Target Giftcard), but they worked for me!

Before starting to design on Arianna’s nails, I decided to test taking off the polish. It was thicker than the polish I am used to (the base is just one coat!), so I wanted to see how hard it was going to be to take off if I messed up. The polish got a little gummy, but was otherwise just like taking off any other polish.

Next up, it was Mommy & Me time with Arianna. Her pedicure is well worn, but she loves it (and will ’til the very end), so we focused on her fingers. She wanted a ladybug, a disco ball, some dots, and her initials. I believe that I delivered! Her hands are still very tiny, so instead, head over to my Instagram and check out this video that I took while using the pens. 🙂

We were impressed, and cannot wait to try out some more designs. The Hot Designs Nail Art Pens are definitely going to become part of our beauty regimen, and we’d love to hear that you’ve given them a try, too! You can find out more about these pens at  / Facebook / Twitter  / pick up your own (suggested retail value is $14.95). OR, you can take a chance to get a set for yourself for FREE right here on the blog. What do you say? Ready to Create hot, fun and unique designs on your nails right at home? Let’s go.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

A little side note about shipping…The pens arrived on my doorstep on a hot day – the delivery driver had no idea that there was a fragile substance inside, so they got a little warm on the porch. I was VERY glad this didn’t hinder our fun or make the paint in the pens act any differently than expected.

A Younique Experience

Enter disclaimer text

Let’s face it. We are all beautiful inside and out, but there sure is something magical about putting some makeup on. I didn’t used to believe that, I used to think I was fine without it. My husband tells me day in and day out that I don’t need it, but as I get older, I realize that my skin isn’t as bright as it once was. A little bit of sparkle and color isn’t a bad thing.

When Tia of Younique reached out to ask me to try some of her company’s skin care and makeup products, I jumped at the chance. Not gonna lie. I’ve seen what their mascara can do (over on her Facebook page), and it got me excited to see what the pigments and other products could do to “paint up this ol’ barn”. (Sorry, Greg, but sometimes Mama June really does know what she’s talking about.)

Some of the Younique products you can find on Tia’s site

Tia sent me four products to prep my skin pretty: the Awake Cleanser, Brilliant Moisturizer, Glorious Primer, and BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer. I also got to check out the Blusher in “Sweet” and two pigments, “Sassy” and “Curious”.

After washing with the Awake Cleanser, my pores felt ready to face the day. It smells like a flower (because one of the three ingredients is Chrysanthemum), but looks like a thick clay-like substance. This turns into a lather (which surprised and delighted me) then rinses off easily without feeling like I still had “gunk” on my face. (If you know the feeling, raise your hand.)

Next up, I spread the Brilliant Moisturizer on. This is a very soft gel that has what looks like the top of q-tips inside it, but the little balls kind of “pop” on your face and leave you feeling super hydrated. There’s silver and pearl powder in here – so get ya sparkle on, ladies! This should be used day and night to promote healthy skin.

The Primer, formally known as Moodstruck Glorious Face & Eye Primer, prepped my skin for makeup. It literally pulled my pores together and left me feeling more ready to wear makeup than ever! If you are going to pick up one product to add to your makeup bag, let this one be it. You’ll thank me when you are at that Happy Hour and your makeup applied at 6 AM is still looking spectacular. Trust me on this one.

The BB Cream, which is a “Flawless Complexion Enhancer” was lightweight and gave a really nice base. Since I didn’t have a powder to try out, I did add a little bit of my current powder (also a mineral based product) on top of it for just a ‘lil more coverage as I didn’t feel the BB Cream alone was quite enough. That doesn’t mean it won’t be for you, however. I have YEARS of bad skin on this face and need a ‘lil extra loving.

The blusher, which I tried in “Sweet”, required very little to make a “pop” of color on my cheeks. It lasted, too! I was impressed by this, and didn’t feel like it left me looking like a clown. (The blusher, as well as the pigments, are 100% natural, made of minerals, and free of all the bad stuff you don’t want to add to your skin. You can read up more on that here.)

Finally, the pigments! I took a gander out on Pinterest to find some things that I could do with this besides apply it dry to my eyelids, and there are a lot of things that you can do. For instance, you can apply it wet to make a more dramatic pop, or even use it as eye liner. Others have used it to temporarily color their hair (Arianna will be addicted). I loved the colors I picked out because they were a sparkly set of pink and white that went well with my blush.

The end result was something I was very happy with, a subtle look that lasted for the work day. Since giving this look a shot, I’ve been following Tia on her Facebook page and getting tips / watching for specials and parties she’s throwing. (Most of the Younique parties are online, so you don’t have to worry about hosting and bringing everyone into your home to shop…a unique factor of this direct sales company.) If you are interested in learning more about the products, I suggest you join her page and get invited to an upcoming party…or even host your own. I don’t think you’ll be sorry! (Bonus! If you are local to Pittsburgh, Tia is close by, too!)

Styleout on a Sunday

Disclaimer: I was asked to review services at a local business. All opinions are 100% my own. I received services in exchange for this post.

Sundays are a great day for some me time (usually). Today I had planned on traveling out to Ross Park Mall (off of McKnight Road in Pittsburgh) to review Styleout Bar and get some me time. Arianna has been sick, so since she was finally feeling better, we made it a family trip instead. When we got there and she asked to stay with, however, family time had to come to an end. Ladies, if you’ve never had a blowout, set yourself up for one and be open to the hour of pampering. Trust me, you’ll just feel better.

Here’s how I got styled out today…

First, I should let you know that I did not set my own appointment the Styleout Bar. A PR Rep assisted me with finding the best hour in my schedule, and we decided 12-1 today worked best. But, I did get an email confirmation on Thursday that was 1) super helpful and 2) slightly confusing as to whether or not I confirmed I’d be there. (I was able to click confirm more than once and it didn’t ever give me a message that I was truly confirmed, but AWESOME nonetheless.)

I learned ahead of time (and some while on site) that Styleout Bar has four locations, one of which is in Pittsburgh. These blowout bars are designed to place focus on luxury blowouts – so there’s no hair cutting or coloring to be found in these salons. You can, however, get your eyebrows threaded, nails done (enamel or gel), and professionally applied makeup in addition to the blowouts.

On our way to Ross Park, I had to figure out where would be best to park. Parking in our city stresses me out. Even at locations that have abundant parking (like the mall). Luckily, I hopped on the Ross Park Mall’s website and was directly guided to entrance 4 (between Nordstrom and Sears). Major win in my book.

When I first arrived at Styelout Bar, it was pretty much what I expected from their website information. It was bright and clean, and I knew right away it was where I was going (without having to consult the storefront signage). The only thing that disheartened me is that I was the lone customer until someone came in as I was checking out. Hint: More ladies need to be treating themselves in this city.

Styleout Bar

And clearly, I needed to treat myself. Well, to be fair, I went for a run and tan this morning, so I was looking a ‘lil disheveled before going inside. Let me be honest. I am a busy mom and a I probably often look like this:

I needed help.

Cynthia was more than willing to help out, and she not only made me feel beautiful, she was friendly and welcoming, too. I got seated in a comfy salon chair and didn’t have to look at my mop anymore (the mirrors are above the bar that the stylists use to hold their tools which is awesome because you can’t see how things are progressing). We talked about my hair and what I typically (don’t) do to it and she gave me a book with a list of several different looks to pick from. I liked the Classic Straight which would have given some volume, but because my hair does have a natural wave, opted for a mesh between that and the loose curls of Muse (just to see what my fine hair would do).

I got to partake in my favorite activity – having someone else wash my hair – and relax. My stylish (Cynthia) gave me a very large wineglass of water which made me feel special, too. It was an all around comforting experience. Before I knew it, the hour passed by and my hair was ready for the reveal. I was pleased (but I’m gonna make you wait another minute before sharing the photo).

We talked about h0w long it will last (I’ll likely have volume for a few days and not need to shampoo my hair until Tuesday or Wednesday). Some ladies (with thick hair, for instance) can  make a blowout last  a week. My hair felt light and airy, but she used products on me – so we talked about the two she used and I eagerly purchased them with the promise I’d go light with t hem.

While we didn’t talk about me setting up a return visit, I think I might. Or, I might think about bringing a friend or two there for a girl’s night (they’ve got packages) or perhaps let Arianna get a blowout someday. To be pampered is definitely worth it.

I left Sytleout and tried to find my family. Greg and the kids walked right toward me and didn’t even recognize me. I had to follow them into a store and say HEY. It was that good. Now I just need to learn to take more morning me time and do this more often. Right?

You can schedule your own time at Styleout Bar at They are on Facebook and Twitter, too. Blowouts start at $35.

Lancôme DreamTone

Disclosure: In exchange for this post, I received complimentary product from SheSpeaks/Lancôme. All opinions, as always, are 100% my own.

Having come from a background of problem skin, I was excited about the opportunity to give Lancôme DreamTone a try to help correct the issues left behind on my face. It’s a serum that will help with spots and imperfections. My test was of the “Fair” serum.

During my four-week trial, I used DreamTone before moisturizing and applying makeup. A second round was put on my face at night before bed, on clean skin.

Here’s how I started, four weeks ago:

bareselfie before

The serum was light and my skin soaked it right up, especially during my stay in CA last week. That spot on my forehead is a combination of dryness, acne, and scar tissue from having stitches as a baby. I quickly noticed a change in the area by the end of the 3 or 4 days. Other areas seemed to lighten up, too.

Here’s my #bareselfie (no makeup) after waking up this morning, four weeks in:

BareSelfie After

It seems to have done work, right? I’m going to keep using it and see what it can do with my wrinkle spots and other problem areas. One thing I’ve learned with beauty – you have to keep at it and make it a habit. After 28 days, I think this product will be no problem keeping in my regimen.
