This summer, we vowed to spend more time in the pool. ‘lil Miss A is loving the water, but ‘lil Man is not quite happy with it yet. Even at 100 degrees, he would scream and cling to me when we tried to go in the pool. Enter the Swim Trainer, and everything changed.

Thanks Mama sent me a Swim Trainer in red to review. The kid on the box looked happy, so I was pretty sure my ‘lil man would be, too.

And the instructions looked easy. Put the Swim Trainer on the ground (NEVER put baby in it in the water). Lay baby on top with chin on frog. Slip neck clip over head and clip belly band around back. Snap in place the clip lock (genius), and put the baby in the water.

Oh, maybe one should blow it up, first. And read the instructions (like we clearly didn’t). Blow up the “white” sections first–the belly band and neck area. THEN blow up the colored section marked “1” then “2”. I made an oops. It happens. Greg just had to use some extra hot air (just kidding).

Finally, we had a blown up Swim Trainer. Happy baby we did not have. He realized he was going into the pool and got mad. Back bend temper tantrum mad. Neighbors peering over the fence screams. Yup, like that. I handed him a ball, and he calmed down enough for Greg to quickly slip him in and carry him into the water (admittedly, this part is a little awkward). Wait for it. Wait for it. What? No screams? He loved it? Oh, win.

We had a happy baby. I followed instructions to let him push off my hands with his feet to “frog” in the water, and he was happy as a clam frog. Giggles. Ball chasing. Smiles. Within five minutes, I kid you not, we were able to step a few feet away from him and let him frog ACROSS THE POOL. You read that right. ACROSS THE POOL on his own (with us behind and beside just in case).

I can’t tell you how happy I am that Swim Trainer came into our lives. We’re going to keep working with ‘lil Man through the steps of Swim Trainer. ‘lil Miss A thinks she’s above it because she has mastered sitting on the step another swim device, refusing to let us put her in the Swim Trainer. Someday, she’ll regret it. ๐Ÿ˜‰
