As I write this post, I begin to think more and more about my future and where I want it to take me. If you had asked me a year ago, heck, even eight months ago, to drink a protein shake I would definitely have said no. Now, protein shakes are pretty much part of my daily life. Following every workout, I’m either eating a protein bar or slurping down a protein shake. (Evan likes to call it my sugar, and he always asks if I will share some. I think that making this impression on my kids is a great thing, but it’s way to early to get him to “jump the shark” like some people think I have, he he.)

When I went to BlogHer, I got to meet up with representatives from Garden of Life,  makers of Raw Fit, a protein powder for weight loss. It is a is a USDA Certified Organic, RAW, plant-based vegan high-protein powder.

Now, I’ve touted the fact that I’ve done this whole weight loss thing 100% natural – no additives or supplements. Let me tell you that just because I opted to give Raw Fit a try, it doesn’t mean that I haven’t done this natural. Protein powders are used to help with weight management and energy post workouts. Garden of Life‘s Raw Fit IS natural and according to their website and packaging, it does the following:

With the facts, I couldn’t help but give it a try. Garden of Life directs you to mix it in with cold water OR your favorite food or beverage as a snack or meal replacement. (Personally, I don’t use protein powder to replace meals, I am only using it for post-workout boosts and muscle support. Although not an expert, my experience in weight loss the past two years hasn’t come from meal replacement, so I wouldn’t promote it personally.)  My choice has been to mix it in with cold water in order to taste the protein powder in it’s purest form. To be honest, it’s not the tastiest thing to consume, but it’s not awful in the least. The organic cinnamon is definitely present, but the grains definitely give way, too. Basically, I’m saying that if you are used to protein powders, this is a good choice. If you’ve never had protein powders before, understand that you’re about to consume something for your health and it’s not necessarily going to taste like a milkshake…but it’s not horrible!

(Raw Fit was the first protein shake I tasted and I am still drinking it, so that should tell you a lot!) While I am definitely not a protein junkie, I am totally happy enjoying my Raw Fit shakes post workout and hope you would be, too.

  1. I still have a ton of these packets from BlogHer and I still can’t wait to be able to try them out! My body has been a little temperamental since July so it’s been hard for me to try new things. Plus I haven’t been able to really exercise in awhile o.O
