Monthly Archives: January 2018
It’s been three years since I was anxiously preparing for how things would go when I went on maternity leave, including stashing away some extra money since almost half of it was going to be unpaid for me and two weeks unpaid parental leave for Greg.
Our family has some pretty strong thoughts on the importance of pre-school learning. Both of school-age kids attended pre-k programs, and we’re hoping the twins will start in April. Until then, we’re working on some learning activities at home and in the region. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Arianna was extremely excited to give CharMinis Deluxe Jewelry Studio a try while the kids had some snow days this week. She is our creative kid, so giving her the opportunity to make her own jewelry was pretty cool.
CharMinis Deluxe Jewelry Studio
If your child loves creating their own jewelry pieces, the CharMinis Deluxe Jewelry Studio is a great set for them. The one we got to test out was “Sweet Treats” but there are other themes (like “Fashion Icons”). Each kit has over 100 pieces for making colorful sparkling charms.

In order to keep up with the ‘lil Burghers, the mama behind this site has to have gym wear that keeps up with her workouts. I was introduced to a solution through Arctic Cool.
Gym Wear for the Active Parent
Launched in 2016, Arctic Cool is a line of athletic wear. It is the fastest growing apparel company that incorporates cooling technology into its apparel. This clothing line is powered by HydroFreeze X, a fiber-based, cooling management system. HydroFreeze X moves moisture away from the skin and lowers the temperature of the fabric so you can keep active and keep cool.
// Anyone else proud of their ‘lil makers for all the building they’ve been doing with the blocks and bricks they got over the holidays? Or do you find yourself wishing you wouldn’t step on them with every move? If your living room looks like Pittsburgh’s original makerspace (Snapology), trust me, that’s a good thing!
Winter is definitely here in the ‘Burgh, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of things to do with kids in Pittsburgh in January. We’ve browsed the internet and local events calendar and have pulled together a list of things for you to do with your ‘lil Burghers in January. Enjoy!
Welcome 2018! We are excited to have you here. There are a few changes coming to our blog, so be sure to read to the end of this one!
Can you believe it, today we welcome a new year! A fresh slate, an open book. Time to start fresh.
Speaking of starting fresh, Mama Burgher is starting a few new projects this year, the first of which launched today! A new blog, focused mostly on mom life things (things I didn’t really feel “fit” here) and another space for creativity.
